Seed Storage <\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20% eRH and store at -20 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination<\/strong> requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are not dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds two weeks in 4 \u00baC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/20 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).<\/p>\n

Fruit shape:<\/strong> Nut<\/p>\n

Fruit type<\/strong>:<\/strong> Nutlets elliptic to oval, roundish hilum with a small beak. Surface granulate, slightly lustrous, dark to yellowish light brown.<\/p>\n

Seed size:<\/strong> Length 1.2 to 1.4 mm, width 1 to 1.1 mm in an accession from Zarand, Kerman with 1000 seed weight 0.9 g, which was collected in 2004 by Saber, and the cultivated sample was identified by Ziba Jamehzad with accession number 18316.<\/p>\n

Biological features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form: <\/strong>A perennial, cushion-shaped subshrub, cespitose with abundant branches that lie prostrate on the ground.<\/p>\n

Inflorescences and flower type and pollination mechanisms:<\/strong> Inflorescence loose head. Flowers hermaphrodite, zygomorphic, violet or purple. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinate. Pollination is carried out by insects (entomophily<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Time<\/strong> of<\/strong> flowering<\/strong>:<\/strong> Early spring to mid-summer<\/p>\n

Time of seed ripening<\/strong>:<\/strong> late spring to mid-summer<\/p>\n

Seed dispersal methods: <\/strong>The seeds are displaced by weight.<\/p>\n

Geographical distribution: <\/strong>Iran and Iraq. Typus from Iran, kerks Mount.<\/p>\n

Distribution in Iran: <\/strong>Chahar Mahaal and Bakhtiari, Kerman, Esfahan, Yazd and Semnan.<\/p>\n
