Seed Storage <\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20% eRH and store at -20 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination<\/strong> requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are not dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds two weeks in 4 \u00baC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/20 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).<\/p>\n

Fruit shape<\/strong>:<\/strong> Nut<\/p>\n

Fruit type<\/strong>:<\/strong> Nutlets elliptic to oval, roundish hilum with a small beak. Surface granulate, slightly lustrous, dark to yellowish light brown.<\/p>\n

Seed size: <\/strong>Length 1.2 to 1.4 width: 1 to 1.1 mm in an accession from Mahneshan, Zanjan with 1000 seeds weight 0.6 g, which was collected in 2016 by Mahmudi, and the cultivated sample was identified by Ziba Jamehzad with accession number 46102.<\/p>\n

Biological features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form: <\/strong>A perennial subshrub covered with gray fine hairs, with abundant stems that lie prostrate on the ground.<\/p>\n

Inflorescences and flower type and pollination mechanisms:<\/strong> Inflorescence loose head. Flowers hermaphrodite, zygomorphic, light red. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinate. Pollination is carried out by insects (entomophily).<\/p>\n

Time<\/strong> of<\/strong> flowering<\/strong>:<\/strong> Summer<\/p>\n

Time of seed ripening<\/strong>:<\/strong> July to mid-September<\/p>\n

Seed dispersal methods: <\/strong>The seeds are displaced by weight.<\/p>\n

Geographical distribution:<\/strong> Endemic to Iran. Typus from Zanjan.<\/p>\n

Distribution in Iran: <\/strong>Northwest. Azarbaijan.<\/p>\n
