Seed Storage<\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20% eRH and store at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are non-dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/20\u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours of light and the lower one for 8 hours of dark).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fruit:<\/strong> Nut<\/p>\n

Seed:<\/strong> Nutlets ellipsoid, dorsal side convex, ventral side convex to slightly angular, areole (whitish hilum at the base) bi-lobed. Surface with round ornaments, slightly lustrous, dark brown.<\/p>\n

Seed size<\/strong>: Length: 1.8-2 mm, width: 1-1.2 mm in an accession from Semnan with 1000 seed weight 1.38 g, which was collected in 2006 by Salar and Madah, the cultivated sample was identified by Ziba Jamehzad with accession number 21603.<\/p>\n

Biological features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form<\/strong>: Annual, stem simple or branched at the base.<\/p>\n

Inflorescence and flower type and pollination mechanisms: <\/strong>inflorescence capitate, sometimes with one or few interrupted verticillasters. Flowers hermaphrodite, zygomorphic, corolla blue-pale purple, 6 to 8 mm long. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinate. Pollination is carried out by insects.<\/p>\n

Time of seed ripening<\/strong>: Spring to early summer<\/p>\n

Seed dispersal methods: <\/strong>The seeds are displaced by weight.<\/p>\n

Geographical distribution:<\/strong> Iran and Afghanistan. Typus from Isfahan.<\/p>\n

Distribution in Iran<\/strong>: In North East, East, South East, South, and center.Isfahan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Khorasan, Semnan, and Tehran.<\/p>\n
