Seed Storage<\/strong><\/p>\n

Storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20% eRH and store at -20 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species have non-deep dormancy. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds 14 days in 4\u00baC for breaking dormancy. Then germinate under alternating temperature regime of 15\/20 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).<\/p>\n

Fruit type:<\/strong> Achene<\/p>\n

Fruit shape:<\/strong> Obpyramidal-cylindrical, apex with short corona, base truncate, surface longitudinally furrowed, cartilaginous, dull, and brown.<\/p>\n

Fruit size:<\/strong> Length 3 to 3.81 mm, width 1 to 1.5 mm in an accession from Fridan Esfahan with 1000 seed weight 1.3 g, which was collected in 2013 by Feyzi and the cultivated sample was identified by S. Reza Safavi and Vlieollah Mozaffarian with accession number 42791.<\/p>\n

Life Form: <\/strong>Herbaceous, Perennial<\/p>\n

Inflorescences, flower type and pollination mechanisms:<\/strong> Capitates arranged in corymb inflorescence. Ray flowers female, ligulate, ligule ovoid- orbicular, yellow, 3 to 5 mm long; disc flowers hermaphrodite, tubular, yellow. Plant monoecious, cross pollinate, in failure of cross pollination, self-pollination may take place. Pollination is carried out by insects and wind.<\/p>\n

Seed dispersal methods:<\/strong> The agent of seed distribution is seed weight.<\/p>\n

Geographical distribution<\/strong>: <\/strong>Turkey, Iran, Caucasus and Iraq. Typus from south of Iran.<\/p>\n

Geographical distribution in Iran<\/strong>:<\/strong> North, West North, West and center. Mazandaran, Gilan, Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Hamadan, Esfahan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad and Tehran.<\/p>\n
