Seed Storage<\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20% eRH and store at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species have non-deep dormancy. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds 14 days in 4\u00baC for breaking dormancy. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/20 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).<\/p>\n

Fruit type:<\/strong> Achene<\/p>\n

Fruit shape:<\/strong> Oblong-ovate, biconvex, apex and bottom truncate. Surface with longitudinal shallow furrows, slightly lustrous, dark brown.<\/p>\n

Fruit size:<\/strong> Length: 1 to1.7 mm, width: 0.5 to1 mm in an accession from Qom with 1000 seed weight 0.1 g, which was collected in 2002, and the cultivated sample was identified by Vlieollah Mozaffarian with accession number 14141.<\/p>\n

Life form: <\/strong>Herbaceous, perennial<\/p>\n

Inflorescences, flower type, and pollination mechanisms<\/strong>: Inflorescences capitates, with a compound corymbose arrangement. Ray flowers (3 to 5) female, ligulate, pale yellow; disc flowers (20 to 35) hermaphrodite, tubular. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinate, in failure of cross-pollination, self-pollination may take place. Pollination is carried out by insects and wind.<\/p>\n
