Seed Storage <\/strong><\/p>\n

Storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-talerant seeds); dry to 15-20% eRH and store at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination<\/strong> requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seeds do not have physiological and physical dormancy and are easily able to germinate. Place seeds between-paper in 5-10 C\u00ba for 5 days to germinate uniformly. Then germinate at constant temperature of 20 C\u00ba and 8\/16 hr. photoperiod.<\/p>\n

Fruit<\/strong>\/seed<\/strong> shape:<\/strong>–<\/p>\n

Fruit\/seed size<\/strong>: length 6.1 to 6.72 mm, width 1.86 to 1.94 mm in an accession with 1000 fruit\/seeds weight 9.8 g., which was collected by Abdollahi and Arabzadeh from Taft, Yazd in 2012 and the cultivated sample was identified by Behnam Hamzeh’ee with accession number 39133.<\/p>\n

Average 1000 fruit\/seed weight:<\/strong> 3.2 to 10.5 g.<\/p>\n

Biological features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form:<\/strong> Annual herb, with erect or ascending solitary or loosely fasciculate culms, 10-50 cm long, somewhat pruinose.<\/p>\n

Inflorescences<\/strong>, <\/strong>flower type and pollination mechanism:<\/strong> Spike oblong, 3-7 cm long, glumes of central spikelet and the internal glumes of the lateral spikelets ciliate on both margins, floret of the central spikelet pedicellate. Pollination is carried out by wind (anemophily).<\/p>\n

Time<\/strong> of<\/strong> flowering:<\/strong> March to May<\/p>\n

Time of seed ripening:<\/strong> April to May<\/p>\n

Seed dispersal methods:<\/strong> Wind and livestock<\/p>\n

Geographical distribution: <\/strong>Anatolia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and North-Western of India. <\/strong>Typus from Mount Sinai<\/p>\n

Distribution in Iran: <\/strong>North, North-East, North-West, West, Center, South, South-East. Mostly in Golestan, Gilan, Mazandaran, Ardabil, Kordestan, Kermanshah, Hamedan, Markazi, Isfahan, Qom, Khozestan, Fars, Boshehr, Shiraz, Kerman and Tehran provinces<\/p>\n
