Seed Storage<\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20 % eRH and stored at -20 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species show non-deep dormancy. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/25 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours of light and the lower one for 8 hours of dark).<\/p>\n

Morphology<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fruit\/seed: <\/strong>Achene<\/p>\n

Fruit\/seed shape:<\/strong> Achenes ellipsoid, areole bi-lobed, surface with small rounded tubercles, dark brown.<\/p>\n

Fruit\/seed size: <\/strong>Length 1.65-1.92 mm, and width 0.66-0.94 mm in an accession from Kashan 1000 seed\/fruit weight 0.4 g, which was collected and identified in 2016 by Hosein Batuli with an accession number 46486.<\/p>\n

Average 1000 seed\/fruit weight:<\/strong> 0.3-0.6 g<\/p>\n

Biological features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form:<\/strong> Perennial, herbaceous, many-stemmed, stems erect to ascending<\/p>\n

Inflorescence, flower type, and pollination mechanisms:<\/strong> Inflorescence capitate, with a few interrupted verticillasters. Flowers hermaphrodite, zygomorphic, corolla purple-blue, 12 mm long. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinated. Pollination is carried out by insects, especially bees.<\/p>\n
