Seed Storage <\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds), dry to 15-20% eRH, and store at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination<\/strong> requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are not dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds for two weeks at 4 \u00baC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/20 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).<\/p>\n

Morphology<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fruit type:<\/strong> Achene<\/p>\n

Fruit shape: <\/strong>Obpyramidal or slightly obconic, apex truncate, crenate, narrowed toward the base. Surface longitudinally furrowed, glabrous, slightly lustrous, yellowish cream with brown-purple dots.<\/p>\n

Fruit size<\/strong>: Length 1.81 to 2.12 mm, width 0.53 to 0.78 mm in an accession from Marvdasht, Fars, with 1000 seed\/fruit weight 0.1 g, which was collected and identified in 2018 by Amin Zeraatkar, and is stored in the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Iran with the accession number 46891.<\/p>\n

Biological features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form: <\/strong>Herbaceous, annual. Stem erect, 5 to 20 cm height, tomentulose<\/p>\n

Inflorescence, flower type, and pollination mechanism: <\/strong>Inflorescences solitary capitate, capitulum radiate; receptacle convex, bristly; ray florets white; disc florets 2 mm long, red or yellow. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinated. Pollination is carried out by insects and wind.<\/p>\n
