Seed Storage <\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds), dry to 15-20% eRH, and store at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds for two weeks to two month\u200c at 4 \u00baC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperatures of 20 \u00baC (16 hours of light) and 15 \u00baC (8 hours of darkness).<\/p>\n

Morphology<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fruit type:<\/strong> Schizocarp (schizocarp is an indehiscent dry fruit that consists of two not compressed or compressed lattraly\/dorsally carpels called mericarp)<\/p>\n

Fruit shape: <\/strong>Mericarps oblong, homomorphic, not compressed, dorsal side five-ribbed, vertral side flat, with visible vittae, base truncated. Surface covered with dense hairs, dull, color cream<\/p>\n

Fruit size:<\/strong> Length 8.12 to 13.09 mm, width 3.40 to 4.55 mm in width, in a seed sample from Shabestar, East Azerbaijan, with a 1000 seed\/fruit weight of 44 g, collected and identified by Vali-allah Mozafarian in 2015 and is stored in the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Iran with the accession number 45935<\/p>\n

Biological <\/strong>features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form:<\/strong> Perennial, herbaceous, pubescent. Stem erect, up to 85 cm high<\/p>\n

Inflorescence, flower type, and pollination mechanism:<\/strong> Inflorescence compound umbel, with 2 to 6 rays, 4 to 6 cm long, umbellule with short pedicles, flowers yellowish. \u200cPlant monoecious, \u200ccross-pollinated. Pollination is carried out by insects and wind. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Geographical distribution<\/strong>:<\/strong> Endemic to Iran. Typus from Azerbaijan, Iran<\/p>\n

Distribution in Iran:<\/strong> Northwest and center. Mostly in Azarbaijan, Tehran, Qazvin and Alborz provinces<\/p>\n
