Seed Storage <\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds), dry to 15 to 20% eRH, and store at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination<\/strong> requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are not dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds for two weeks at 4 \u00baC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/20 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).<\/p>\n

Fruit type:<\/strong> Silicle<\/p>\n

Fruit shape: <\/strong>Elliptic-rectangular, straight, rarely curved, beaked, compressed, 1 to 4 seeded, dehiscent<\/a><\/p>\n

Fruit size: <\/strong>Length 5 to 20 mm, width 2 to 7 mm<\/p>\n

Seed shape:<\/strong> Ovate-Elliptic, slightly compressed, radicular furrow distinct, wingless. Surface indistinctly tuberculate, lustrous, orang-brown<\/p>\n

Seed size: <\/strong>Length 1.73 to 2.1 mm, width 0.95 to 1.8 mm in an accession from Damavand, Tehran, with 1000 seeds weight 0.4 g, which was collected and identified in 2016 by Valiollah Mozaffarian, and is stored in the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Iran with the accession number 45897.<\/p>\n

Life form: <\/strong>Perennial, woody at the base, subshrub, glabrous. Stems numerous, height 16 to 39 cm<\/p>\n

Inflorescence, flower type, and pollination mechanism:<\/strong> Inflorescence raceme or corymb, flowers actinomorphic, petals white, circular to oval, unguiculate at the base. Flowers hermaphrodite and cross-pollinating. Pollination is carried out by insects and wind.<\/p>\n

Time of seed ripening:<\/strong> Mid-spring<\/p>\n

Distribution in Iran:<\/strong> North, Northwest and Center. Mostly in provinces Mazandaran, Azerbaijan and Tehran<\/p>\n
