The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20 % eRH and stored at -20 \u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are not dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds for two weeks in 4\u00baC germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/25 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours of light and the lower one for 8 hours of dark).<\/p>\n

Fruit type:<\/strong> Achene<\/p>\n

Fruit shape: <\/strong>Elliptic, dorsal side convex, ventral side mostly flat, with large hilum. Surface<\/p>\n

reticulate-foveate, mostly dull, glabrous, pale- to dark-brown<\/p>\n

Fruit size: <\/strong>Length 6.5 to 7.5 mm, width 2.5 to 3.5 mm in an accession from Marvdasht, Fars, with 1000 seed\/fruit weight 10.3 g., which was collected and identified in 2018 by Amin Zeraatkar, and is stored in the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Iran with the accession number of 46901.<\/p>\n

Biological<\/strong> features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form: <\/strong>Subshrub, woody at base, perennial, pubescent. Stems erect, height 15 to 35 cm<\/p>\n

Inflorescence, flower type, and pollination mechanism: <\/strong>Inflorescence separated verticillasters, each verticillaster with 2 flowers, calyx gamosepalous, with 5 unequal tooth, 7 to 12 mm, corolla gamopetalous, 14 to 30 mm long, 2-lipped, upper lip fused lobs (at apex diagonally cut), lower lip 3-lobed, often whitish or yellowish, purple-nerved. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinated. Pollination is carried out by insects, especially bees.<\/p>\n
