Seed Storage<\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds), dry to 15-20% eRH, and store at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination<\/strong> requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are not dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds for two weeks at 4 \u00baC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/20 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).<\/p>\n

Fruit type: <\/strong>Capsule<\/p>\n

Fruit shape:<\/strong> Oblong to linear oblong<\/p>\n

Fruit size<\/strong>:<\/strong> Length 2.8 to 4.1 mm, width 1.8 to 2.6 mm<\/p>\n

Seed shape: <\/strong>Ellipsoid to obovoid, slight compressed, beaked. Surface with small tubercles in concentric rows, dull, dark-brown to black<\/p>\n

Seed size<\/strong>:<\/strong> Length 3.54 to 3.59 mm, width 3.26 to 3.59 mm in an accession from Tehran, with 1000 seeds weight 0.8 g, which was collected and identified in 2015 by Valli-Allah Mozaffarian, and is stored in the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Iran with the accession number 45883.<\/p>\n

Biological<\/strong> features<\/strong><\/p>\n

Life form: <\/strong>Perennial, subshrub, caespitose, woody at base. Stems numerous, sessile stems decumbent, flowering stems erect, 12 to 36 cm long.<\/p>\n

Inflorescence,<\/strong> flower type, and pollination mechanism:<\/strong> Inflorescences cymose, with 1 to 6 flowers in terminal glomerule, enclosed among bracts, calyx polysepalous, sepals margin membranous, corolla petaliferous, white. \u200cPlant monoecious, \u200ccross-pollinated. Pollination is carried out by insects and wind.<\/p>\n
