Seed Storage <\/strong><\/p>\n

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds), dry to 15-20% eRH, and store at -20\u00b0C.<\/p>\n

Germination<\/strong> requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

The seeds of this species are not dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds for two weeks at 4 \u00baC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15\/20 \u00baC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).<\/p>\n

Fruit type:<\/strong> Capsule, dehiscent<\/p>\n

Fruit shape:<\/strong> Ovoid to oblong<\/p>\n

Fruit size: <\/strong>Length 8 to 12 mm, width 4.5 to 7 mm<\/p>\n

Seed shape: <\/strong>Reniform to circular, slightly compressed, side faces flat to concave, marginal face slightly concave, hilum circular, deeply concave. Surface tuberculate in concentric rows, dull, brown<\/p>\n

Seed size: <\/strong>Length 1.14 to 1.15 mm, width 1.01 to 1.17 mm in an accession from Galee asghar, Kerman, with 1000 seeds weight 0.7 g, which was collected and identified in 2019 by Ahmad Poormirzae, and is stored in the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Iran with an accession number of 48656.<\/p>\n

Life form: <\/strong>Perennial, woody at base, pubescent. Stems numerous, erect, 15 to 36 cm long<\/p>\n

Inflorescence, flower type, and pollination mechanism: <\/strong>Inflorescence cymose, terminal, with 1 to 2 flowers; flowers regular, calyx is gamosepalous, cylindrical-claviform, covered with glandular trichrome, with 5 teeth, corolla petaliferous, with 5 petals, petals pink. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinated. Pollination is carried out by insects and wind.<\/p>\n
