Seed Storage
The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds), dry to 15-20% eRH, and store at -20°C.
Germination requirements
The seeds of this species are not dormant. They produce mucilage when soaked in water. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds for two weeks at 4 ºC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15/20 ºC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lower one for eight hours in dark).
Morphology
Fruit type: Achene
Fruit shape: Subspherical, dorsal side round, ventral side with two slanted surfaces, apex round, hilum round, lateral. Surface smooth, shiny, glabrous, brown with a pattern of thin dark lines
Fruit size: Length 2.2 to 2.4 mm, width 1.5 to 2.2 mm in an accession from Bandarabas, Hormozgan, with 1000 seed/fruit weight 4 g, which was collected and identified in 2016 by Mohammadamin Soltanipour, and is stored in the Natural Resources Gene Bank of Iran with the accession number of 45796.
Average 1000 seed/fruit weight: 2 to 4 g
