Seed Storage
The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20% eRH and store at -20°C.
Germination requirements
The seeds of this species are non-dormant. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15/20ºC (the higher temperature for 16 hours of light and the lower one for 8 hours of dark).
Morphology
Fruit: Nut
Seed: Nutlets ellipsoid, dorsal side convex, ventral side convex to slightly angular, areole (whitish hilum at the base) bi-lobed. Surface with round ornaments, slightly lustrous, dark brown.
Seed size: Length: 1.8-2 mm, width: 1-1.2 mm in an accession from Semnan with 1000 seed weight 1.38 g, which was collected in 2006 by Salar and Madah, the cultivated sample was identified by Ziba Jamehzad with accession number 21603.

Biological features
Life form: Annual, stem simple or branched at the base.
Inflorescence and flower type and pollination mechanisms: inflorescence capitate, sometimes with one or few interrupted verticillasters. Flowers hermaphrodite, zygomorphic, corolla blue-pale purple, 6 to 8 mm long. Plant monoecious, cross-pollinate. Pollination is carried out by insects.
Flowering Period: Spring
Time of seed ripening: Spring to early summer
Seed dispersal methods: The seeds are displaced by weight.
Geographical distribution: Iran and Afghanistan. Typus from Isfahan.
Distribution in Iran: In North East, East, South East, South, and center.Isfahan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Khorasan, Semnan, and Tehran.
