Seed Storage

The storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-tolerant seeds); dry to 15-20% RH and store at -20 °C.

Germination requirements

The seeds of this species show non-deep dormancy. Sterilize seeds before placing them on wet germination paper. Place seeds two weeks in 4ºC to germinate uniformly. Then germinate under an alternating temperature regime of 15/20 ºC (the higher temperature for 16 hours in light and the lowest one for eight hours in dark).

Morphology

Fruit type: Legume

Fruit shape: Semiorbicular, slightly hairy, alveolate, crown segments obtuse, cartilaginous, denticulate

Seed shape: Reniform, seed coat smooth, yellowish–light brown

Fruit size: Length 12 – 14 mm, maximum width 6.5-8

Seed size: Length 3.4-4 mm, maximum width 2-3.5 mm in an accession from Khorasan with 1000 fruit weight 34 g, which was collected in 2001 by Mahmud Amirkhani, and the cultivated sample was identified by Hasan Amirabadizadeh with accession number 5784.

1000 fruit weight: 34 g

Biological features
