Seed Storage
Storage behavior of this species is orthodox (desiccation-talerant seeds); dry to 15-20% eRH and store at -20°C.
Germination requirements
Seeds do not have physiological and physical dormancy and are easily able to germinate. Place seeds between-paper in 5-10 Cº for 5 days to germinate uniformly. Then germinate at constant temperature of 20 Cº and 8/16 hr. photoperiod.

Fruit/seed shape:–
Fruit/seed size: length 6.1 to 6.72 mm, width 1.86 to 1.94 mm in an accession with 1000 fruit/seeds weight 9.8 g., which was collected by Abdollahi and Arabzadeh from Taft, Yazd in 2012 and the cultivated sample was identified by Behnam Hamzeh’ee with accession number 39133.
Average 1000 fruit/seed weight: 3.2 to 10.5 g.
Biological features
Life form: Annual herb, with erect or ascending solitary or loosely fasciculate culms, 10-50 cm long, somewhat pruinose.
Inflorescences, flower type and pollination mechanism: Spike oblong, 3-7 cm long, glumes of central spikelet and the internal glumes of the lateral spikelets ciliate on both margins, floret of the central spikelet pedicellate. Pollination is carried out by wind (anemophily).

Geographical distribution: Anatolia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and North-Western of India. Typus from Mount Sinai
Distribution in Iran: North, North-East, North-West, West, Center, South, South-East. Mostly in Golestan, Gilan, Mazandaran, Ardabil, Kordestan, Kermanshah, Hamedan, Markazi, Isfahan, Qom, Khozestan, Fars, Boshehr, Shiraz, Kerman and Tehran provinces
